Esther 9:28, “And these days should be remembered and celebrated by every generation, every family, every province, and every city; and these days of Purim should never cease from among the Jews, nor shall their remembrance perish from their descendants.

Each and every year we remember these days of Purim by reading the “Megillah”, the book of Esther. It is the only one of the twenty four books of the Tanach where G-d’s Holy name does not appear. These days are celebrated with feasts, gladness, delicacies, and gifts. Families gather together at this time of year to eat and drink for a festival marking G-d’s miracle for all time.

It’s hard to imagine how the Divine Countenance could be concealed during such a prophetic period. Fifty two years after the destruction of the Temple there were still prophets on

the scene. Cyrus, king of Persia, gave the order that the House of G-d be rebuilt in Jerusalem. Isaiah foretold it about two hundred years before.
